Since our founding, the United States has been a beacon of hope for immigrants, and I am happy to help the latest generation of newcomers navigate the immigration and naturalization process. We have welcomed people like my great-grandparents, who came to our shores in search of religious freedom and the opportunity for a better life for their family. It is our immigrant experience and our diversity as a nation that has set us apart, making America the land of innovation as well as the land of opportunity.

USCIS and Congress

Commonly Asked Immigration Questions:

Can Congressman Polis assist me in obtaining information about my immigration application?

Yes. Jorge Loweree in my Thornton Office handles immigration casework and is happy to discuss your situation and, if appropriate, communicate with BCIS regarding your application.

I have a friend/relative who would like to visit the U.S.  Can Congressman Polis help with this process?

Yes. Most foreign nationals must get a Visitor Visa before entering the US by applying at a consulate or embassy abroad. Congressional offices often writes to foreign posts with information about an applicant that may be helpful in getting approval. PLEASE NOTE: A letter from a Member of Congress is not a guarantee of visa issuance. The most common reason for denial is an applicant's failure to overcome the assumption that he or she will remain in the US.  Regrettably, a congressional office cannot help expedite an application through security clearance.
