Fort Collins, CO, August 5, 2014 | comments

August 5th, 2014 marks the second annual Start-Up Day Across America. Start-Up Day, which I launched last year with my colleagues on the bipartisan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Caucus, connects elected officials with start-ups in the communities they represent so that they can learn first-hand about the challenges new companies face.

More than two dozen Members of Congress are joining me today to recognize Start-Up Day. Here's how I'll be spending the day:

8:30 a.m.
Networking Coffee at Rocky Mountain Innosphere
Innosphere is a technology incubator based in Fort Collins that helps start-ups raise capital, build management teams, and develop a foundation for success.

9:30 a.m.
Visit with Start-Ups at the Colorado State University Engine Lab
The CSU Engine Lab partners with start-ups in the tech and environmental fields to combat pollution and develop new clean energy technology. At the Engine Lab, I'll be visiting with several start-ups, including Czero, Pioneer Engineering, Rebound Technologies, Factor(E) Ventures, OptiEnz, Prieto Battery, VanDyne Super Turbo, Living Ink Technologies, BAUS Tech, DeYrd, and Onepartart.

10:45 a.m.
Tour of SurgiReal
SurgiReal is a Fort Collins company that specializes in cutting-edge surgical training technology. The company combines superior training equipment with innovative teaching methods with the goal of improving surgical outcomes.

3:15 p.m.
Meet & Greet at The Studio Boulder
The Studio is a collection of private workshops and start-up offices that operate within a greater shared workspace that fosters collaboration and innovation.

4:00 p.m.
Tour of PivotDesk
PivotDesk, in Boulder, helps burgeoning start-ups throughout the country find functional and affordable office space.
